About Kate
Dr Kate Renshall,
B.A (Hons), MSc., D. Clin Psych
Kate completed her Doctorate of Clinical Psychology at the University of Sydney. She has a special interest in working with children, adolescents and families experiencing mental health issues (like anxiety or depression) or family conflict and stress.
Currently Kate works part time at an adolescent inpatient unit in Sydney where she helps families recover from chronic mental illnesses. She has also worked previously with children and families in the out-of-home care (OOHC) system and has experience working with trauma and attachment issues.
In 2015 Kate completed the intensive Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) training and helped to create and run a day treatment program for adolescents and their families experiencing difficulties with self harm, suicidal thoughts and long term school attendance concerns.
Kate's approach is warm, practical and evidence-based. She believes the goal of therapy is to increase understanding of the challenges being faced by the young person and their family and provide practical strategies to help people lead a more fulfilling life. Her approach is to develop strategies that help everyone feel more in control of their emotions and behaviour.
